Background

Pusat Teknologi Maklumat (PTM) has been established since 1974 under the Office of Chancellery. During that time, it operated as the Computer Unit which responsible for processing the salaries of staffs.

In 1980, the unit was upgraded to the Pusat Komputer in line with the increasing number of the major functions and development of technology in order to support the efficiency of the university management.

In year 2007, the Pusat Komputer had established the Sanggar Work: The Enhancement of the Computer Centre Management to achieve the best service quality and to provide an efficient customer service system.

Resulted from the sanggar, the Pusat Komputer is now known as the Pusat Teknologi Maklumat (PTM) and the organizational structure was then reorganized by the establishments of the Applications Support Unit and the post of the Deputy Director of Research.

This is to support the efficient management and the research in the Faculty / Centre / Institute and the students parallel to the recognition of the National University Malaysia

itself as a research university.

In 2008, PTM had it Sanggar Work: Enhancing the Organizational Structure to improve the management and services in each of its sections. As a result, the organization was then restructured with the establishment of another two new divisions, which are the Advanced Computing Division and the Information and Communication Technology Security Division.

PTM has developed 169 applications to help taking up the challenge in the university management. PTM has also successfully achieved the following awards:
